The Cross at Easter

The Cross at Easter

The cross is an important symbol during Easter, reminding us of the incredible sacrifice Jesus made. Despite all of our struggles and pain, the cross reminds us we are not alone in this world. We can find strength and comfort knowing that Jesus has already saved us...

When All Seems Lost

When All Seems Lost

Now what? That’s something that all of us have said to ourselves at one time or another. In his new message, ‘When All Seems Lost’, Pastor Jeff Vines covers the topics of marriage and keeping relationships strong. Jeff offers encouragement for those of us who are...

An Important Easter Message

An Easter Message from Awaken Church The Easter Story from Scripture As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the...

Christian Growth Comes Down to Daily Habits

By Laura Bennett Is there a way to measure your spiritual growth? Central to the Christian faith is a desire to become more Christ-like and see our lives reflect Jesus’ character, peace and intuition. But how do we know we’re getting any closer to that goal? It’s safe to say obtaining Christlikeness will be a lifelong pursuit, but pastor and author Justin Kendrick says there are habits we can cultivate that support such an aim. “A lot of Christians fail to define what spiritual growth is,”...

The Only Prayer You’ll Ever Need

The Only Prayer You’ll Ever Need

Have we as Christians allowed the Lord’s Prayer to become like a ritual in our lives? Are we missing the real treasures contained within it? It’s one the most familiar passages in the Bible, and it’s also where Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray. The Lord’s Prayer is one of the first things we often learn as children, and as new Christians. We can recite it from memory in church on a Sunday, and even Australia's Federal Parliament opens each day reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Dr. Douglas K....

Dr Kameel Majdali – Is it Time for a Reset?

When we think about things like COVID, the culture war or cancel culture, we get a healthy dose of realism. Dr. Kameel Majdali from ‘Understanding the Times’ believes it has never been more important for us to build God’s kingdom. He wants to help us gain insight into what’s happening today, and also to have hope for tomorrow. What is a reset?  It means to set again or to set differently. If you like the status quo, you would press reset, set again. But if you want to change the status quo,...

It Isn’t How You Start, But How You Finish

It Isn’t How You Start, But How You Finish

By: Pastor Greg Laurie In 2017 on New Year’s Eve in New York City, visitors to Times Square were encouraged to bring whatever they wanted out of their lives and throw it into a giant shredder. Some people shredded paper on which they had written unpleasant memories, while others shredded photographs and even their bills. That sounds kind of fun, but shredding your bills won’t make them go away. However, I can tell you there’s something even better. We have a great Saviour who can help us put...

Three Ways to Get Spiritually Refreshed

Three Ways to Get Spiritually Refreshed

By Pastor Greg Laurie I love the word refresh. It’s such a perfect word to describe starting again or returning to something. In fact, we even use it as a computer term. Sometimes when I’m working on my computer, leave it for a while, and then come back, things freeze up. Certain programs aren’t working properly anymore. So I have to refresh my computer screen. And there are times when that means I need to completely reboot. Sometimes we need a reboot in the Christian life as well. Sometimes...

Living in Purpose

Living in Purpose

By Author: Sabrina Peters When you hear the term ‘purpose’, what words come to mind? Success? Happiness? Meaning? Wealth? Marriage? Influence? Affluence? Talent? Relationships? As a Christian, I find my answer in God’s Word. Romans 12:1-2 (TM) puts it like this, “So, here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best...

The Secret Place

By: Dr Dan Mo Have you ever wondered where a man can find God and fellowship with Him today? Adam met with God and fellowshipped with Him in the Garden of Eden. Moses met with God and fellowshipped with Him at the tabernacle. David met with God and fellowshipped with Him at the temple. What about us in this day and age? Where can we find God and fellowship with Him? “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 In current times,...

When God sends you an angel (1)

‘Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?’ Hebrews  1:14 NIV

God can come to you in varied forms. When Jesus appeared to His disciples and stilled the storm, they thought He was a ghost. So, your intellect can undermine your faith. The Bible says angels are ‘ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation’.

Have you ever seen an angel? They aren’t always dressed in white with dramatically arched wings. Sometimes they’re so ordinary that they’re overlooked. ‘Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it’ (Hebrews 13:2 NIV). Perhaps you think God doesn’t send angels because He has given us His Holy Spirit to help, protect, and guide us. Not so. Remember, God sent an angel to deliver Peter from prison on the eve of his execution. On his way to Rome, Paul was on board a ship that was destined to be destroyed by a ferocious storm. But God sent an angel to assure him he would survive it. So, Paul announced to the crew and passengers: ‘Take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, “Do not be afraid, Paul”…Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me’ (Acts 27:22-25 NKJV).

You may not be able to see angels, but you can be certain that they see you; indeed, they never take their eyes off you! (See Matthew 18:10.)
